01/99 BOARD OF PUBLIC EDUCATION Standards for School Accreditation as per 20-7-101 MCA: (1) Standards of accreditation for all schools shall be adopted by the board of public education upon the recommendations of the superintendent of public instruction. 06/96 STANDARDS OF ACCREDITATION General Provisions The state board of public education is responsible for establishing and maintaining standards for all public schools n Montana.
If a school files a subsequent notice of deferral on a standard(s) already subject to a deferral, the office of public instruction will review the notice and recommend to the board of public education whether an additional two-year deferral should be granted.
DEFINITIONS For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms apply: (1) "Benchmark" means expectations for a student's knowledge, skills, and abilities along a developmental continuum in each content area.
That continuum is focused at three points: the end of grade 4, the end of grade 8, and jpon graduation (grade 12).
(2) "Building administrator" means a person who is a part of the school's administrative or supervisory staff and who holds a class 3 certificate and is appropriately endorsed. 01/99 Standards of Accreditation Chapter 55-1 1 t (3) "Combined school district" means an elementary district and a high school district which are combined district administration purposes.
