At the back to school night I was appalled at how long she was pulled out during the school day. I had seen an email from the NJCIE about a parent chat that was happening the next day. I sent her my daughter’s IEP, she reviewed it, emailed me suggestions, spoke with me on the phone several times, and sent me many resources. The school was willing to work with us and reached out to NJCIE for training on inclusive education.
I emailed Mary Ann that night asking her if it was not too late to join. That alleviated some anxiety from the shock of my daughter’s pull-outs. I feel that I was heard in the IEP meeting and was able to educate the team on the inclusion model.
